One constant theme I hear from our customers is the lack of real networking in cloud platforms. Sure there may be some perimeter security and most likely host-based vm filters – or perhaps maybe even some clever use of vswitches. Or in the case of vmware environments, hypervisor aware p-switches like those in the Cisco Nexus line. But at the end of the day, the capabilities networking capabilities in the cloud leave much to be desired.
