Flat Rock Systems develops software designed by experts in the fields of investigation, law, financial analysis, journalism, risk assessment, security and intelligence. To address the unique challenges faced in complex investigations and research authoring, Flat Rock has developed Genu™ – a revolutionary cloud-based software solution designed to help customers conquer the facts of any investigation or research project. With Genu, users can capture knowledge, collaborate in real-time, and incorporate audio, photos and videos into compelling narratives.

Challenge
In the United States and around the world, the legal and investigative communities are facing business continuity concerns and soaring IT costs. There is a need to store, preserve and maintain vast paper or electronic files and to have the ability to assimilate all this knowledge into a winning narrative. Today, firms must share large, bandwidth-intensive files between multiple offices quickly and securely. If the evidence is not properly preserved, a firm can be left exposed. While Flat Rock’s Genu solution solves this problem, the company needed to find a hosting partner able to meet its stringent requirements for compliance and security to host the data.

Approach
Carpathia’s team took an interactive and iterative approach to designing the right solution for Flat Rock. During the process, they were able to work with Flat Rock’s team to define and redefine the design to not only meet their current needs and provide a platform that scales up for their expected growth, but one that also met their business and budgetary needs – all while maintaining a specific compliance target.

Solution
To meet Flat Rock’s needs, Carpathia provided a highly-available, dedicated private cloud with a unified storage solution and an HA network stack that can be built out in a scalable fashion to meet future FISMA moderate requirements with additional required hardware. Currently, the hosting provider is also upgrading the existing infrastructure to support the addition of 1000 new Genu end-users. By leveraging Carpathia’s world class infrastructure, Flat Rock is able to deploy advanced, secured, web-based solutions to its clients.
