Top 10 Reasons to Move Your Data Out of the Closet (Part 1 of 2)

1. Convenience and Flexibility

A major benefit involved with colocation is the convenience of not having to hire and maintain an on-site IT staff, alleviating concerns and allowing more time for business owners and managers to focus on running their business. Additionally, this practice frees up capital that would have be spent on hiring and maintaining an IT department.

Colocation also offers added flexibility when an office relocates, removing the downtime required to move servers and infrastructure from one location to another. With colocation services, businesses can also easily upgrade technology requirements as the company grows, without having to make additional capital investments.

2. Security and Specialists

Housing IT equipment in a secure, off-site environment removes the vulnerability to physical loss or damage of critical business systems, offering piece-of-mind to businesses.

In a colocation facility, trained IT professionals monitor and maintain a company’s data 24x7. Additionally, datacenters are built with redundant air-cooling and filtering systems, designed to operate even in the event of a power failure.

Any risk of security breach or potential software malfunction are quickly found and eliminated before causing any harm to the data housed in the facility. On top of ensuring data is safe from virtual threats, datacenters are built to survive natural disasters.

3. Connectivity

When a company colocates in a datacenter facility, there is no sharing of bandwidth, RAM or other hardware, thus allowing each business’ server(s) to run at their highest capacity.

Colocation companies also offer redundant Internet connections and extremely high bandwidth provisions, ensuring that information is readily accessible for use by businesses and their customers, on demand. And because of the extremely high bandwidth provisions, the response speed of colocated servers will be at a much higher level than that of your customers, ensuring a speedy response.

4. Access to technology

Another advantage associated with moving data to a colocation facility is the access to top of the line technology without having to pay the costs associated with staying on the cutting edge.

Colocation providers consistently update, upgrade and maintain their systems, keeping colocation customers at top performance levels at all times.

5. Cost Savings

Between facilities, Internet connectivity and maintenance personnel, building and maintaining an in-house server can become costly. In fact, it’s actually less expensive to add components to a colocated system because the fees are one-time only.

Colocation providers already made the investment to provide, manage and maintain these services, so business owners can focus their capital and time on their core business instead of IT systems.

The equipment in a colocation facility is also far more advanced and more expensive then most businesses can afford. For example, for a business to run a backup plan similar to that of a datacenter, it would need to update the power grid, get permits from the land owner, the city and the fire department, procure the equipment and build rooms and safety structures. This clearly is not a logical option for most companies, making colocation the way to go.

Yes, of course we have an offcie building we would not be marketing it otherwise . We own and operate it, and do lease it to other commercial businesses. Is this something Telnet Web would be interested in? If so, please e-mail =).
